North - East Irrigated Agriculture Project

Phase - II

 

The North – East Irrigated Agriculture Project Phase - II is a World Bank funded project. The Project is to be implemented in all districts 08 in North East Province and Adjoining 04 districts Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Moneragala and Puttalam during the period 2004 – 2010.

Applications are invited by the Ministry of Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation and North East Provincial Council from suitably qualified candidates who posses the under mentioned qualifications and experience for the post of Social Mobilizer (100 Nos) for the selected focal villages of the districts mentioned above. 

 

General Conditions:

1.      The post is temporary and the appointment is on contract basis for one (1) year. The extension of contract for further period depends on the necessity and work performance.

2.      Age Limit: The applicant should be over 21 years of age and below 45 years of age. 

3.      Salary:

3.1.    Rs.9375/- per month with an interim allowance of Rs.2200/- per month.

3.2.Initially the appointment is on training basis for 03 months and later on contract basis. An all-inclusive allowance of Rs.8000/- will be paid during the training period. The first month training will be at Trincomalee and the balance two months training will be at the respective District Project Offices.

4.      Applicant (1) should be a citizen of Sri Lanka. (11) Should be in good health and physically fit to serve in any part of North – East Province and Boarder Districts.

5.      Method of application:

Candidates are requested to prepare the application including Educational, Professional qualifications, Date of birth, Previous employment particulars, Past experience, District preferred etc. The application should be sent under registered cover to the Project Director, Project Management Unit, North – East Irrigated Agriculture Project, No: 171, Power House Road, Trincomalee on or before 26.07.2004.The name of the post applied should be written on the left hand corner of the registered cover. Candidates who are already in public service should send their applications through their Heads of Departments.

 

Duties and Accountabilities:

q       Awareness creation among the community of the focal village and the divisional level officers on the project and establishment of close linkages among them.

q       Preparation of social - economics status reports of a focal village and preparation of village development plan.

q       Facilitation of planning, implementation and coordination of construction activities.

q       Planning, Implementation and Coordination of Livelihood support related activities, Small group formation, Group saving, Micro Credit management Bookkeeping etc in the focal villages.

q       Support in institutional capacity building Community Based Organizations.

q       Coordinating and conducting training programme in the focal village.

q       Preparation of progress reports and submission of them to relevant institution.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

q       Bachelors Degree with field of Sociology, Science, Agriculture, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Management or any other field.

q       Preference will be given to these who have 03 years working experience as Social Mobilizer with an NGOO.
