The Project finances essential rehabilitation of small irrigation schemes (tanks and diversion weir/anicut systems) to reinstate their productive capacity adequately to help conflict affected communities to quickly resume or increase agriculture production. A large no of minor schemes (command area up to 80 ha) and few medium schemes (80 to 200 ha), totalling about 400, would be rehabilitated. The project would not support investment, except in exceptional circumstances, for improvement works to schemes, presently in satisfactory working order. The project also would not finance restoration of abandoned schemes.
